Biannual Update for Website
October 06

President Sandra Martin, RN, CNS sandra.martin@uz.kuleuven.ac.be

On May 12th, 2006 the Belgium chapter organized a symposium on “the motor of our actions”. The symposium started with a presentation of Ms Fabienne Dobbels PhD, on compliance and motivational interview. Followed by a presentation of Mr. Frank Van Gelder on burnout and job satifaction. After a break we organized a speakers corner with four cases with nursing-ethical issues. The panel consisted of nurses, social workers, psychologist and a nurse specialized in ethics.

Because of the financial support of pharmaceutical companies and the hospital we could make the registration for free! And we had an ITNS booth on the entrance of the conference room.

We had 60 registrations and they were all very excited about the symposium. This was one of the reactions: “for this symposium I was willing to pay!”

This symposium was also the beginning of more case report discussions on the transplant wards. During the closing reception, the idea arose to organize ourselves and to go to the annual symposium in Rotterdam. And last but not least we attended with 23 Belgian nurses!
